2002 – Jake started training at the age of 10
2006 – 1st Dan black belt under Sensei Masoe Kawasoe 8th Dan
2006 – Started teaching Karate part-time
2008 – 2nd Dan Black Belt under Sensei Masoe Kawasoe 8th Dan
2009 – ETKF European championships, Bronze individual Kumite
2010 – Jake became a full time professional instructor
2010 – JSKA World championships, Portugal, Silver team Kumite
2011 – FSKA World Championships, Italy Bronze individual Kata
2013 – 3rd Dan Black Belt under the TSKUK/WTKO panel with Sensei Richard Amos 7th Dan
2013 – WTKO Championshps, Switzerland Gold team Kata, Gold team Kumite, Gold individual kumite
2014 – Trained at WTKO headquarters New York
2014 – Formed Traditional Karate & Fitness (TKF) together with Danny Jordan, James Daniels and Matthew Yardy, becoming a joint director and full-time senior instructor
2017 – Selected for JKS Kumite Squad
2017 – JKS Scotland Championships ,Team Kumite Gold, Individual Kumite Bronze
2017 – JKS European Championships Gold Individual Kumite, Gold Team Kumite, Gold Individual Kumite Open Weight
2017 – EKF Nationals, Individual Kumite Bronze
2017 – BKF Nationals, Individual Kumite Bronze, Team Kumite Bronze
2017 – BKF international Open Championships, Team Kumite Silver
2018 – Retired from competing to focus on coaching
2019 – Passed 4th Dan black belt under Sensei Masao Kagawa 9th Dan JKS
2024 – Passed 5th Dan black belt under Sensei Masao Kagawa 9th Dan JKS

Jake is a qualified JKS kyu grade examiner and is one of very a small percentage of people who have gone from beginner to 4th Dan without failing a single grading. Jake is an incredibly successful competitor and he has won a medal in every competition he has ever attended. Jake has also won many national titles as a Junior, Cadet and Adult that are not on the list above.

He has also coached members of RONIN to go on a win medals at a national & international level.

Personal Tuition

At the RONIN Karate we offer individual, bespoke classes for students who do not wish to attend normal classes or for those students that want to accelerate their progression. Personal Tuition is also great for students that wish to have a refresher lesson after a long absence from their training.
